Safety & Accountability Audit
Our
2007-2009 Work Plan, approved by the state Family Policy
Council, included a Service Proposal for a Safety &
Accountability Audit on how treatment for DV perpetrators
addresses the effects of DV on children exposed.
Safety and Accountability Audit
The Audit is a method of assessment and analysis for exploring
institutional responses to domestic violence: how workers
within agencies and systems are organized and coordinated to
think and act on cases. SKCCN developed a community partnership
in South King County to conduct a Safety and Accountability
Audit to explore how batterer intervention programs
address batterers’ violence and its impact on their children.
Audit Question
The Audit question that led the work of the Team was:
How do batterer intervention programs address parenting,
co-parenting
and children’s experiences of intimate partner violence?
Final Report and Opposing Opinion
There are always two sides to each issue and the Audit raised a
lot of great discussion and some controversy. The SKCCN Board
wanted to assure that this issue was discussed openly and
honestly so the Board worked diligently with all members of the
community to assure open communication. Please take the time to
read the following two documents -- the final Audit Team report
and an opposing opinion written by a team of Domestic Violence
Treatment Providers.
